What is Econazole and why is it prescribed?
Econazole is prescribed for fungal skin diseases commonly called ringworm. It is used to treat athlete's foot, jock itch, a fungus infection of the entire body, and a skin infection that causes yellow or brown colored skin eruptions. It is also prescribed for yeast infections of the skin caused by candida fungus. Do not use Econazole in or near the eyes.

How should you take Econazole?
Follow your doctors directions for taking Econazole. Continue using the medication for the full time prescribed even if your symptoms have been relieved. When applied, the cream should completely cover the affected area. If you miss a dose apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule. Store Econazole at room temperature.

Are there any Econazole side effects?
Econazole side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. More common Econazole side effects may include burning, itching, skin redness, and stinging. Less common or rare Econazole side effects may include itching rash.

What are the possible food and drug interactions when taking Econazole?
If Econazole is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. Be sure to inform your doctor of all the prescription and over the counter medications you are taking. No interactions have been reported.

Are there any special warnings about Econazole?
If you develop an irritation or an allergic reaction to Econazole, stop using the cream and inform your doctor. Econazole is only for external use.
